Physical Effects of Anorexia Nervosa 

Anorexia nervosa is a serious mental health condition characterised by persistent restriction of energy intake, intense concerns about weight, shape, or eating, and behaviours that interfere with maintaining a healthy body weight. Prolonged malnutrition affects virtually every system of the body and can result in significant physical and psychological complications. The severity of these complications often increases with the duration and severity of the illness. While many effects improve with nutritional rehabilitation and recovery, some may persist long-term, particularly when the illness has been present for an extended period. Without appropriate treatment, some complications can be life-threatening.
